[Assignments](https://support.gallopade.com/teacher-support?hsLang=en#assignments) # How to Create Groups for Assignments ## You can create groups to make assignments for a subset of students within the class. To create a group, go to your **dashboard**. Find the class, and select **Groups**. ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hubfs/image-png-Mar-04-2022-04-44-41-36-PM.png) Select **+Add** **Group**. ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hubfs/image-png-Mar-04-2022-04-46-06-87-PM.png) When you select +Add Group, you will see an Add Group pop-up box.  ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Mar-04-2022-04-58-35-73-PM.png?width=419&name=image-png-Mar-04-2022-04-58-35-73-PM.png) Complete the required information: create group name and select students. (Adding a group description is optional.) Then select **Add Group**. ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Mar-04-2022-07-44-23-09-PM.png?width=389&name=image-png-Mar-04-2022-07-44-23-09-PM.png) After adding the group, you will be back on the groups page for the class, where you will see all active groups and the red +Add Group button to create additional groups. This is where you will manage your group(s). Below you can see multiple groups. ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hubfs/image-png-Mar-07-2022-08-25-30-87-PM.png) After creating a group, the group will be one of your Assign-to options. \*When you add a student to a group, the student will be added to any open assignments made to the group. When you remove a student from a group, the student will no longer have access to the assignment. To edit a group, select the ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Mar-04-2022-07-59-22-94-PM.png?width=14&name=image-png-Mar-04-2022-07-59-22-94-PM.png) button to the right of the group name. ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hubfs/image-png-Mar-04-2022-07-59-00-90-PM.png) Then select **Edit Group**. ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Mar-07-2022-08-12-41-89-PM.png?width=577&name=image-png-Mar-07-2022-08-12-41-89-PM.png) From Edit Group, you can edit the group name, description, and select or deselect students to change who is in the group. Archiving a group will not affect any previous/existing assignments. ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Mar-07-2022-05-47-30-62-PM.png?width=423&name=image-png-Mar-07-2022-05-47-30-62-PM.png) After a group is archived, you have the option to reactivate it or permanently it. To reactivate or permanently delete an archived group, select **Groups**. ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hubfs/image-png-Mar-04-2022-04-44-41-36-PM.png) Select the Archived tab. **![](https://support.gallopade.com/hubfs/image-png-Mar-07-2022-05-21-15-71-PM.png)**From the archived tab, locate the group you want to delete or reactivate, and select the ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Mar-04-2022-07-59-22-94-PM.png?width=14&name=image-png-Mar-04-2022-07-59-22-94-PM.png) button. ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hubfs/image-png-Mar-07-2022-05-23-01-03-PM.png) You will see the options to Permanently Delete or Reactivate. ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hubfs/image-png-Mar-07-2022-06-41-26-74-PM.png) Select **Reactivate** to unarchive the group. ![](https://support.gallopade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Mar-07-2022-06-16-02-47-PM.png?width=613&name=image-png-Mar-07-2022-06-16-02-47-PM.png) If a group has no assignments, you can delete the group.
