How to Give a Submitted Assignment Back to a Student

Unsubmit will permanently DELETE the GRADE and RECORD of the submission. Unsubmit gives students the opportunity to replace a submission with a new submission. To preserve a grade and give a 2nd chance, create a new assignment.

To Unsubmit

1. Go to Assignments

2. Locate the assignment.

3. Select Submissions

4. Locate the Submission for the student.
5. Hover over or click on the submitted date.
6. Once you select the date, this will bring up a box with the option to Unsubmit Assignment.

7. Select Unsubmit.
8. After selecting Unsubmit, you will see that there is no longer a submission date or grade. The submissions date has been replaced with a submit button.

***Unsubmitting allows students to edit/redo any activity included in the assignment. As stated above, when a teacher unsubmits an assignment submission, all previous grading will be deleted.

9. After submitting, check the due date and status. The due date must be in the future, and the status must be not started or started for students to access an unsubmitted assignment.

If students do not complete and submit an assignment before the due date, you can extend the due date and change the status to open the assignment back up for those who did not submit. Changing the due date and status will not affect students who previously submitted.  For more information regarding extending a due date, click here.
