How to Use the Interactive Digital Student Book: an Overview of the Digital Student Book Menus, Tools, and Options for Completing Activities.

Digital Student Book Page Layout and Features

Each chapter starts with the title page for the chapter. 

Throughout the chapter, you will see the page numbers in the top left. You will also see a navigation menu on the bottom of the page where you can select <back or next>  to go to the previous page or next page.

 

From the menu at the bottom, you can also select Go To to see a list of all pages (across the bottom of the page). Select a specific question/page to go directly to that page. 

To go to the last page, select  Summary.

The last page is a summary page where students will Save for Later if they choose to wait to submit.

 

Then when ready to submit to teacher, students will select Submit for Grade

Completing Activities

There are many different types of activities in the Digital Student Book. Students can complete activities directly on the page. The activities are ready for you to type, click, click and drag/drag and drop. Here are some examples of activities:

For some activities, students will click into the boxes and type directly in the space provided.

They may select an answer choice and place it in the provided space or select it to move it to a different space.

For some activities, student click to select an answer or click a new selection to change an answer.

 

When students are ready to stop working, they will select Go To at the bottom of the page. 

Then select Summary to go to the summary page to Submit or Save.

Select Save for Later allows students to come back later to work in the unsubmitted chapter.

 

Students can select Submit for Grade when they are ready to turn it in. 

 

Annotations

In addition to completing activities, students can also make annotations. They will use the top menu.

To make annotations (highlights and notes), select the Mark Up icon.

Then click and drag to select text on the page

Selecting text will bring up a menu of options.

From left to right, the menu options are highlight , underline , create a text border , create a note , and delete .

To highlight, select the highlight option. . That will bring up the highlight colors to choose from.

Select a color, and the selected text will be highlighted.

To create a note, place the mouse cursor on the page, and click and drag to select text. Then select the add a note icon.

Type your note and select Save to save your note. 

You will see a number to notate your note. 

You can select the number open, edit, read, or delete your note at any time.

Note, teacher will not see these as part of your answers. Students need to answer questions in the activity spaces provided.

 

Read Aloud

To use read aloud, select Listen from the top menu.

Then select the Listen button that is in the top left side of the page.

Read Aloud and Translate for Selected Text

To select text for Read Aloud rather than listen to a whole page, place the mouse cursor on the page, and click and drag to select text. After selecting text, release the mouse click. Then select Listen.

To have text translated, click and drag to select text, and then select Translate.

Then select a language.

The translated selected text will appear. Select the play button to hear the text read aloud.
